Changes at Our Offices Due to COVID-19

We are dividing the type of patient each of our clinics can see:

Under the current pandemic of COVID-19, in order to effectively serve the community of Rio Grande Valley, we have developed an emergency plan to continue services to patients that cannot be seen by telemedicine or during routine sick clinic hours. Edinburg Children's Clinic has two locations, one at Edinburg at Jackson Av., and one at McAllen on Ware Road. We have decided to exclusively designate the Edinburg location for newborns and children with non-contagious illnesses that cannot wait for weeks, or are not a candidate for telemedicine. All other patients will be seen at the other location and by telemedicine.

The intention is not to expose well patients and newborns to possible COVID cases, but also to offer a safe, more protected environment. We are taking the same extreme measures recommended by the AAP and CDC to avoid all possible exposure in this clinic. Caretakers are asked to wear a mask if they are slightly sick. All patients are screened over the phone, and explained the check in process. At arrival to the parking lot, patients are placed directly into rooms, bypassing the possible exposure at the vital room. All patients and caretakers have their temperature checked at arrival.

Because wellness visits are not as common as sick visits in pediatrics, we have limited this clinic's operating hours. We are asking patients, and referral physician offices to call to verify updated hours of operation. This services will be temporary, until this pandemic is under control, or until we can financially sustain it. If you need further information, do not hesitate to contact us at (956) 682-4500.
